Price is defined in many resources:

  • Wikipedia says "In economics and business, price is the assigned numerical monetary value of a good, service or asset. Price is also central to marketing where it is one of the four variables in the marketing mix that business people use to develop a marketing plan."
  • Merriam-Webster lists the defition of price as follows:
    • archaic: value, worth
    • the quantity of one thing that is exchanged or demanded in barter or sale for another
    • the amount of money given or set as consideration for the sale of a specified thing
    • the terms for the sake of which something is done or undertaken, as an amount sufficient to bribe one or a reward for the apprehension or death of a person
    • the cost at which something is obtained
  • The free dictionary gets close to that definition, with price being
    • The amount as of money or goods, asked for or given in exchange for something else.
    • The cost at which something is obtained: believes that the price of success is hard work.
    • The cost of bribing someone: maintained that every person has a price.
    • A reward offered for the capture or killing of a person: a felon with a price on his head.
    • Archaic Value or worth.
  • And for those who want to browse the net, try starting from google's summary.
